Needless to say, I had to repack & make sure that everything was there for Granny to look after them. And so very grateful to the Grandparents for a lovely 24 hours as grownups. Our first time. In nearly 9 years. They have been to stay at their Grandparents but normally when I was giving birth to another one! It was Roo's first night away & we both missed each other. He has needed more attention at bedtime this week which I have happily given.
We had a good party, even considering the fact that it should have been Aileen's birthday. We partied hard and long and loud. Just as she would have done herself. One of my best bits though was at the B&B the next morning, eating a leisurely breakfast with 4 other friends. Between us we would have had 9 children but there we were, just us, talking grownup stuff. Bliss.
Needless to say that by the time we got back home I was missing my babies desperately & keen to go fetch them. The Grandparents seemed inordinately glad to see us too!
It is odd how you crave time away from your kiddies but when it comes you feel love sick :-( Glad you had a lovely time anyway in your friends name, I sure she would have loved that. x

ReplyDeleteI'm sure your friend would have been pleased that you had a good night out. I find if we go out without the kids we end up spending the night talking about them anyway, you can't win.
ReplyDeleteA friend offered to have our kids when they were 3 & 7 for New Year's eve. I hated it & when we went to fetch them, Joe was sitting on their front doorstep with his bag packed waiting for us !
